Over three decades ago Tempest helped pioneer a new firefighting technique in the United States called positive pressure ventilation/attack or PPV/PPA. Our high-performance inflators were just what the fire industry was looking for to deploy this groundbreaking tactic. PPV became well known for its success along with Tempest’s reputation for being the first and only manufacturer with the perfect tool for the job at hand.
In 2017 Tempest became part of the Leader Group family and offers a much more extensive range of products, specifically for its battery fan innovations as well as other innovations based on what the users want.
Known throughout for their fans and saws, recent technologies and new products are always developed with the end users in mind. Our equipment is continually evolving to keep up with the technology and needs of our customers.
With a focus on customer health in 2002 Tempest was the first to manufacture BIOEX Foam, the first fluorine-free foam in the world effective on class A and class B fires. BIOEX “green” firefighting foams are easily biodegradable and respect the environment without causing health issues. BIOEX’s eco-friendly firefighting foam concentrates are PFAS-free, PFOS-free, PFOA-free. Tempest has experienced success with BIOEX Foam and has supplied it to all airports in Canada.
Tempest also offers a wide range of search and rescue products dedicated to supporting FEMA Task Force and USAR Task Force Teams and operations worldwide. The equipment range consists of listening equipment, search cameras, radar movement detectors, and a structure stability monitor.
A wide range of training equipment specially designed for fire safety instructors is also in the Tempest product line. For more than 30 years, LEADER has been designing and manufacturing fire extinguishing training equipment that perfectly meets the fire safety training needs of the personnel of any company and this, with respect to the environment, health, and safety requirements of trainees. LEADER was one of the forerunners in designing and manufacturing propane-fueled flame generators to minimize the impact on the environment and reproduce intense and realistic fires with a flame height up to 9 ft.
